he sings "i've built my world around you" rather than "i've built my dreams around you" in the end i just find it cool how it parallels haunted - "i'll build my world around you" :)
Așa așteaptă tembelu...De primar.
Damn it’s like London girl with some Mexican funeral in Paris vibes
Жгите братцы,несмотря ни на что.

couldn't find the actual lyrics anywhere, this is 100% accurate apart from the first line i haven't got a fuckin clue he's sloshed but you're welcome, love you shane I wait & call the potin is strong i grab sally gal the line When the sun rises over Britain My dear old native shore Twas then I saw her at a hill Beside a lovely veil As she tripped along She sang a song Of ya lovely granuaile Her long fair hair Hung down so rare And she was dressed in green My eyes they saw the most beautiful thing That I had ever seen As she sat their in the morning air & danced without a care And she tripped along She sang a song Of lovely granuaile I thought she had the most splendid harp It hung down by her side She played the tunes of Brian boru Garryowen and Shannonside And god save Ireland, That came next For our martyrs that die in jail Ah you need not fret with our freedom yet Says poor old granuaile In 29 o Connell time I had no braver man I fought so hard at day and night To win our rights again Still followed by coercion and our sons are slung in jail Ah you need not fret with our freedom yet Says poor old granuaile As I awoke from my slumber Excited by the fright I thought it was the clear day light But I found it was the night I looked about I could see nowt But the walls of a lonely jail And that was the very last time I saw My poor old granuaile

i will miss Shane. here's hopin him & Kirsty are waltzing about heaven as we speak
One of my favorite tracks from the movie was an excellent ensemble of artists I grew to love The movie was excellent the story disturbing and tragic! Still seeing a chubby Courtney Love in a scene and Gary Oldman before he was mainstream was the best! What a excellent time to be alive w real art in movie and music 😢❤❤
RIP Shane.
Masterpiece.
God Bless You Shane, Rest In Peace! I hope that St.Peter has a pint of Guinness ready for you!!
RIP Shane
LONG LIVE THE POGUES! GOD BLESS YOU SHANE!!!

Live from Brixton Academy 2001
This is the superior version. (The cornet with its bluesy phrasings ruins the other version.)
I disagree... For me the roughness of the cornet is a quintessence in this song.
The cornet was too obnoxious for this slow song.
One of their best songs to my mind.
Granuaile All through the north as I walked forth for to view the shamrock plain I stood awhile where Nature smiles amid the rocks and streams On a matron mild I cast my eyes beneath a fertile vale And the song she sang as she walked on was, My poor old Granuaile. Her head was bare and her grey hair over her eyes hung down Her neck and waist, her hands and feet with iron chains were bound Her pensive strain and plaintive wail mingled with the evening gale And the song she sang with mournful tongue was, My poor old Granuaile. The gown she wore was bathed with gore all by a ruffian band Her lips so sweet that monarchs kissed are now grown pale and wan The tears of grief fell from her eyes, each tear as large as hail None could express the deep distress of my poor old Granuaile. Six hundred years the briny tears have flowed down from my eyes I curse the day that Henry made of me proud Albion's prize From that day down with chains I'm bound, no wonder I look pale The blood they've drained from every vein of poor old Granuaile. On her harp she leaned and thus exclaimed, My royal Brian is gone Who in his day did drive away the tyrants every one On Clontarf's plain against the Danes his faction did prepare Brave Brian Boru cut their lines in two and freed old Granuaile. With blood besmeared and bathed in tears, her harp she sweetly strung And o'er the air her mournful tune from one last chord she wrung Her voice so clear fell on my ear, at length my strength did fail I went away and this did say, God help you, Granuaile. Chris passed along this version of the lyrics too: My Dream to some with joy will come and comes with grief to more, As it did to me, my country, that dear old Erin's shore; I dreamt I stood upon a hill beside a lovely vale, And it there I spied a comely maid and her name was Ganualile Her lovely hair hung down so fair, and she was dressed in green, I thought she was the fairest soul that e'er my eyes had seen; As I drew near, I then could hear, by the pleasant morning gale, As she went along she sang her song, saying: "I'm poor old Granuaile." In O'Connell's time in '29 we had no braver men. They struggled hard both day and night to again our rights again; Still, by coercion we were bound and our sons were sent to jail, "You need not fret, we'll freedom get." Says poor old Granuaile. I thought she had a splendid harp, by her side she let it fall She played the tunes called Brian Boru, Garryown, and Tara's Hall. Then God Save Ireland was the next, and Our Martyrs who died in Jail, "You need not fret, we'll have freedom yet." Says poor old Granuaile When I wakened from my slumber and excited by my fright, I thought it was the clear daylight, and found that it was night: I looked all round and could see naught but walls of a lonely jail, And that was the last I ever say of poor old Granuaile.
Thank you so much for this. Sinn Féin.

THE POGUES! FOREVER
How this only has 38 thumbs up, is retarded.
Love it so Irish. And those drums 😍
I prefer the original with the swearing. That was as Pogues as it got 👍🏼☘
The best version of the song hands down. Such a masterpiece.
The mix is so much better on this than the original release.
My brother has the original piece of paper Steve wrote this song on. It's framed underneath a platinum plaque from UK sales of copperhead road.
wow, love this song. good for him!
WOW
There's an extra melody/instrumental line in the movie version that doesn't seem to be on any of these versions on youtube.
Elvis Costello and Shane MacGowan had quite a row over whether to put oboe or coronet on the backing track. I never knew he played anything aside from guitar, but Costello recorded the oboe track. He was of course partial to it being on the final cut. MacGowan wanted the coronet. At the end of the day, MacGowan got his way, as the only version with the oboe was released on the Canadian version of the EP. The US and UK versions are Shane's mix. </useless facts>
Years ago I ordered Poguetry in Motion out of Canada thinking I would get the oboe version. To my chagrin, this was not the case. Really ticked me off. PiM used to have it on the cassette version when I was a kid. I guess Shane scrubbed it at some point in time.
@@slowpickr I never knew there was such a thing until I started reading a lot about Shane's life last year. For some reason I was overcome with this fascination by him and The Pogues. I know how you feel wanting to have that particular track on record, but hey, the internet's not going anywhere anytime soon.
This is so good its unnatural.
Die beste Band der Welt, God save Ireland
Good experimentation by the band and an edgy, observed lyric. An overlooked Pogues number.
Love this!
